How to make your home look more expensive

How to Make Your Home Look More Expensive

Posted on 24/08/202113/09/2021 by Claire

I’m about to show you how to make your home look more expensive in less than
five minutes. No, this is not a joke and I am being 100% serious. If you’ve been
looking for that “one thing” that will bring the wow factor into your home without
breaking the bank or putting any efort into it, then THIS IS IT!

These tips that I am going to share with you, are my top secret styling tips that
can enhance the look of your interior and make it look more expensive, luxurious
and elegant… and it will keep your husband/wife happy.

If you want to know how, keep reading and I’ll share with you my top 5 tips to
make your home look more expensive on a budget!

Tip #01: The easiest way to make your home look more expensive is by adding a
statement wall. You can either paint it or decorate it with wallpaper and add an
accent rug in the same colour/pattern for extra efect. I would also ensure that
your colours are cohesive, to tie everything in. If you visit your local fabric store,
you can find discounted fabrics at a fraction of the cost, to make your own
cushions. To make them extra luxe, why not add some fancy trim?

Tip #02: Adding trim to your curtains can make a standard set of curtains
purchased of-the-shelf look more expensive! You can buy some fabric from the
local store and use an old pair of curtains to make your own. You could also add a
trim on top or bottom, depending on where you want it to be seen more.

Tip #03: Adding different levels of lighting can not only make your home look
expensive but gives it that designer feel. Low lighting for tasks, such as reading
or writing, and then you may have a main centre light, such as a chandelier
(which can make it look super luxe!). Also add wall lights and lamps to give the
room a real ambiance.

Tip #04: Painting is another quick way to transform your space. Look for some
paint in bold colours or that has metallic undertones. This will give an instant
luxe feel. Adding some molding to your walls is very on-trend at the moment, but
if your home is a period property, it can make your home feel timeless as well as
very luxurious. My advice would be to keep the colours neutral.

Tip #05: Another great way to make your home look more expensive is to ensure
photos around your home are kept to a minimum. You might not want to get rid
of them all together, but make sure they don’t dominate your living space and
take up wall after wall. Have a specific area for family photos and for the rest of
the space, pick a nice piece of Art that is cohesive with your space. My favourite
style is abstract art and I love Alison Johnson.

You can get some great finds in pre-loved shops too! (I would swap canvas art, for framed art for a more high-
end vibe!)

Tip #06: Sometimes you don’t always have the budget to spend on furniture, so
my advice would be if you can’t afford a quality piece because of the price-tag,
then visit your local antiques shop, look on ebay or facebook marketplace. We
purchased a £10,000 table and chair set for our dining room, for only £350! If I
want a designer sofa, but can’t afford it – there will be someone out there who is
selling one, just be patient!

Making your home look more expensive is easier than you think, and it’s not hard
to do. All you need to do is follow these simple steps below and make your house
a place where people will want to be! So go ahead – try them out for yourself
today. You won’t regret it. And if you’re still unsure about using the tips we’ve
provided here on our blog post then click here now for our free guide that gives
even more advice on how to transform your space in no time at all. It really works
wonders (trust us)!
